What did you do in your time in Russia?

In my time in Russia, I worked to recreate Werner von Braun's V2 rockets. These were turned into the G- projects. Under the man Sergei Korolev, I worked on the G1-G4 designs-though none ever succeeded to go into space. Yet the designs on the Sputnik launch-the famed first satellite in space, was made from the concept of my designs. Along with that, I also worked on specifically the design of the rocket holding Sputnik. This started on the 28th of October 1946 when I was delivered to Russia and lasted to 1953.

I came to be in 1916

And in the face of engineering I am keen.

I am the creator of the smart card.

Who has no secret to guard.

The Russians took me and 169 others for decades past.

Yet I still thrived and surpassed.

Under von Braun, then Korolev I worked.

To get the formula to rocketry we searched.

I helped compete against America in a race.

To win the title to space.

I am notorious as a German engineer.

As there is nothing in this area I do not fear.

I was the father to five bright minds.

Whom many agree was of varying kinds.

From the V1 to the G5.

My skill gave off an unending roar.

Deceased in 1981

There is nothing in the face of engineering that I have not done.

A rocket I shot up,

For I am Helmut Grottrup.
